Swingin' jazz music is America's true dance music! Originally performed not to just sit down and listen to -- but also to combine with food, drink, dancing, and FUN!!!
SWING STREET carries on the big band tradition of combining good music with good times for all. An evening with SWING STREET will keep your toes tapping and your guests happy.
The SWING STREET BAND was actually born in Chicago in the late 1970s when drummer-vocalist Tom Bernett was working with the Les Waverly Orchestra. Les was proud of his "singing drummer" and had some special arrangements written to feature Tom's vocals. In the early 80s, Tom moved to Minneapolis and started his own band. Then, in 2002, he relocated to North Carolina and currently lives in the golf mecca of Southern Pines.
From those few, early, Chicago-era arrangements, the band's library has now grown to more than 450 "charts" that include favorites from the nostalgic big band era, swingin' classics from today's contemporary big bands, sultry latin rhythms, and a little bit of rock and roll thrown in for good measure.
The book also features great arrangements from famous vocal stars like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat Cole, and others.
