Tom Bernett's Drums and Vocals Demo Page
In addition to leading the Swing Street Band, Tom Bernett will also consider offers from other bands or producers for new performing situations. Special shows or concerts, club dates, or long-term positions will be considered with any style of band or show. Local and regional travel is acceptable. National travel is possible under the right circumstances. Tom also holds a current U.S. passport and is able to accept contracts that require foreign travel.
Moonlighters Orchestra
The Moonlighters Orchestra is the longest continuously existing big band in the Triangle area, formed in the early 1980s by drummer, Charlie Chiklis. Upon Charlie's death in 2010, long-time lead alto player and friend of Charlie, Terry Blalock assumed leadership of the Moonlighters. Shortly after, Terry invited Tom to take over the drum position with the band and a loose partnership between the Moonlighters and Swing Street was born.
The two bands share a few of the same musicians and work together to promote their organizations to clients seeking a wide range of musical ensembles from solo artists to small combos to the mid-size ensemble (Swing Street) to the full big band of the Moonlighters.
Heart of Carolina Jazz Orchestra
The HOCJO is a non-profit arts organization based in Sanford, NC. Tom Bernett, along with several other Swing Street and Moonlighters members play with HOCJO regularly.
Raleigh Jazz Orchestra
The Raleigh Jazz Orchestra is a grant-funded, semi-professional big band that strives to introduce the best in contemporary big band jazz to audiences throughout the Triangle area. Many members of the Swing Street Band also play in the 'RJO'.
Porch Swing Plans
If you like to listen to your swing music while you're actually swinging on your porch swing, then the folks at SwingPlans.com have almost three dozen great woodworking plans to help you build one. The prices for the plans are reasonable and they also carry some of the specialty hardware that you'll need.
Event Planning Checklist
This PDF file is the result of decades of experience in planning corporate presentations and special events. It was started in the early 70s by TJ Worrell at MultiMedia, Inc, in Minneapolis, who produces business theater presentations, and expanded by Tom Bernett during 25 years of providing entertainment for corporate events. The items on the list are in no particular order -- it is just a list of things that have, at one time or another in the past, caused someone a sleepless night.
