Terry Blalock - Alto Sax

Terry W. Blalock is an administrator in the Harnett County, North Carolina school system. Before his administrative career he was a successful band director at the high school and college level for over 20 years in Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia.

He is a professional musician in the Raleigh, North Carolina area, as well as a frequent guest conductor, judge, and clinician throughout the Southeast. He has played professionally for over forty years including positions with Jimmy Dorsey and the Dean Hudson orchestras. He began his professional career playing in clubs in Atlanta, Georgia and recording commercials in Nashville, Tennessee.

He has played back-up for Johnny Mathis, Julie London, Tom Jones, Sonny & Cher, the Four Seasons, Henry Mancini, Andy Williams, the Temptations, the Four Tops, The Lawrence Welk “Four Fabulous Women” tour, Ed Shaughnessy, and “The King” himself, Elvis Presley.

He has also performed with the North Carolina Theatre Orchestra, the Atlanta Pops Orchestra, the Raleigh, Richmond, and North Carolina Symphonies. Presently he performs locally with Charlie Chiklis and the Moonlighters, Swing Street, and the Raleigh Jazz Orchestra.

He is a graduate of East Carolina University, Virginia Commonwealth University and North Carolina Central University. We are extremely pleased to have Terry filling the alto position with Swing Street.
